IBM Updates

Important Notice Regarding SaaS and Subscription License Contracts: Terminate and Auto-Renewal 
 

As we enter November, we want to remind all partners of important timelines and offer suggestions involving Auto Renewal of SaaS and Subscription License (SL) contracts.  
 
Termination:
 
In the event a client needs to terminate an auto-renewal, they must notify their business partner, TD SYNNEX & IBM prior to 30 days before the auto-renewal date. This is always important, but especially in November given the volume of SaaS and SL sales that were sold at the end of December in prior years that are set to auto renew. 
 
*Key Note:  If you (as the partner) are not getting responses from the client as to whether or not they want to terminate the SaaS/SL prior to the 30 day notice cutoff date, please engage the IBM Client team well in advance of the 30 day termination period. IBM will help you get the answer, if possible, and potentially avoid an auto renewal billing issue.
 
Why Auto Renew can be better:
Auto renew is used to reduce workload for you as the partner and IBM.  Auto renewals have a lower YTY inflationary rate, so the pricing is better if you use auto renew than if you had the original contract set to terminate and then try to sell a new SaaS/SL deal.
 
Increases or decreases:
If the client needs to increase the number of licenses at time of renewal, the IBM team can use the “buy more” function to add additional licenses onto the existing order. If the partner is declining the auto renewal or wants to reduce the licenses, the client needs to send a written notice to their business partner, TD SYNNEX & IBM at least 30 days prior to the renewal date. In the case of lowering the number of licenses, the IBM team then would create a manual quote, which is re-priced based upon the lower volume with consideration that there would be an increase for erosion. 
 
*Incentive notes:
For the initial term of the contract, if a partner sells upfront or committed, the partner earns the "new" incentive rate on the entire length of the term. For SaaS initial term on pre-pay, the partner earns a higher rate on the initial term length; earning higher incentives and gaining clients lower yty price increases.

IBM has increased the amount of earnings that a seller can obtain for selling FlashSystems 5200, 7300 and 9500.

Effective Oct 23rd Changes since initial 4Q announcement:
-FS5015/5035/5045 - No Change, benefit $1K on all sales
-FS5200 Increased benefit from $1K to $3K on all sales
-FS7300 Increased benefit from $4K to $10K Install Base, $15K FIE
-FS9500 Increased benefit from $6K to $10K Install Base, $15K FIE
-Maximum cap per sale increased from $20,000 to $30,000
