Cobalt Iron Inc., a leading provider of SaaS-based enterprise data protection, today announced the availability of Secure Automated Backup™ with Compass®, a new cloud backup-as-a-service offering powered by the Cobalt Iron Compass SaaS platform. Developed with IBM, the solution serves enterprises that are running on, or moving to, an IBM Power Virtual Server. The offering backs up AIX and Linux operating systems and databases, greatly accelerating the protection of IBM Power systems, applications, and data, and reduces the risk of data loss and exposure. IBM Power 6% price increase planned for January 2025

IBM is preparing to release their annual global price harmonization, with new prices becoming effective on 1 January 2025. Their annual price harmonization is based on inflation and other macro-economic indicators, which helps ensure stability and consistency over time. Partners can continue to leverage the current pricing until the end of 2024.

What changes?
– IBM Software: 6% increase globally across the portfolio.
– IBM Power: 6% increase across High-end/Mid-Range offerings, excluding highly elastic scale-out offerings.
– IBM Storage: 6% increase across Flash/Mid-Range Tape/ESS, excluding DS8K/Tape increases, SAN + Ready Nodes, LTO Tape & Media.
– Technology Lifecycle Services: 4% to 6% increase across Non-Expert Care offerings.
– IBM Cloud: 2% to 5% increase across select offerings in IAAS/PAAS, excluding VMware.

PROMOTION! Sweep the Floor of P7 and P8 with new P10 Scale-out

IBM has announced a new promotion that offers an additional upfront margin on eligible P10 Scale-out Value Seller transactions when replacing P7 or P8 server.

The intent of the promotion is to help move the last POWER7 and POWER8 clients to Power10. IBM sales teams and Business Partners should work together to find ways to use the increased margin to help clients with challenges they have moving to Power10, such as offsetting the cost of migration services or costs of testing older code on Power10 and lowering the price to the customer.

This price change will be made effective on January 1, 2025, on select IBM Power System, IBM Storage System, and IBM Z System products. New charges will be effective at the start of a new contract or upon renewal of an existing contract.
For Auto-Renew agreements, price changes will be made effective 90 days following the announcement date. New charges will be effective at the start of the renewed contract term. This increase will not take effect until the next contract period for clients with contracts that include price protection, including prepaid agreements.

IBM Price Increase Effective January 1, 2025

IBM will be increasing pricing effective January 1, 2025 on several families of Storage products.
Flash, ESS, Fusion, Virtual Tape Libraries, Misc Tape, SVC and Storage SW will have a 6% price increase.
