The NCA team & I have decided to run a webinar series that will focus on best practices in the New Client Acquisition (NCA) & Small and Medium Business (SMB) spaces. We have gotten feedback from the BPs that they want to work and grow in these spaces but would like more enablement/help. This webinar is here to be the first step to assist them in success in these spaces.

Attached above is a word document that will be the template for an email to your respective BPs. Webinars are held once a month, on the second Thursday of each month, 12:00pm - 12:45pm ET, through March 13, 2025. Each month will be focusing on a different brand, starting with Data & AI.

IBM Changes to Manufacturing for Power and Storage

IBM manufacturing will be going through a transition in April and will not build or ship any Power servers or Storage during the month of April due to this transition. If you have end users that require Power or Storage in April or early May please get them to order in March. We can price and place orders in April but nothing will ship.

IBM Changes OMV Process for 2025

Now that we are in 2025, the main thing that is new this quarter is that the plant won’t be doing any build ahead (PD1) for the high-end products.

That makes the last firm dates that much more important. . Firming early pays off. After these firming dates, its systems are worked on a “Best Efforts” basis.

Here are the last firm by dates for 1Q25:
January February March
High End 01/10/25 02/07/25 03/10/25
High Vol. 01/17/25 02/14/25 03/17/25


• High End – Three Week Lead time – DS8K, High End Tape, SAN, ESS/Storage Scale System, Diamondback
• High Volume – Two Week Lead time – Flash, LTO, Media, SVC, Fusion
• Appliance – Six Week Lead time – Firm by 2/17 for a 1Q25 Shipment CEPH Ready Nodes, Defender Nodes, COS Ready Nodes
• End of Month Arrival – If you client needs arrival within the month, you need to firm at least a month in advance of the arrival date. This should be flagged by working with your Q2C support team.

You may ask – if the plant isn’t building ahead anymore, why even bother with OMV? Utilizing OMV still gives us a view of where some part shortages may occur. Last quarter, we could see several part shortages showing up for SAN, DS8, Flash which allowed alterations to be made or served as an incentive to firm sooner. So, keep those OMV orders coming for the high-end products and make use of the OMV-High status if configs are final, and firming is imminent. We may shut this down altogether, but for now, it’s a tool we can use to drive some insight on parts needed for manufacturing.
