3Q Firm Order Guidance- ACT EARLY!

Everyone should now understand IBM’s revised firm order and shipping guidelines. If you need a refresher, the details are on the Storage Landing page in Seismic. This makes the importance of adhering to the last firm dates critical for all to understand and build into their sell cycle. Anything firming past these dates will be worked by the plant on a” best efforts” basis.

Last Firm Dates July Aug Sept
High End 10-Jul 8-Aug 9-Sep
High Volume 17-Jul 15-Aug 16-Sep
Appliance 22-Jul

• High End – Three Week Lead time – DS8K, High End Tape, SAN Directors, ESS/Storage Scale System, Diamondback, Fusion
• High Volume – Two Week Lead time – Flash, LTO, Media, SVC
• Appliance – Six Ten Week Lead time – CEPH Ready Nodes, Defender Nodes, COS Ready Nodes – recently moved to 10 weeks due to challenges with our supplier. This may improve, but please take this into account for your selling plans and your customer capacity requirements.
• End of Month Arrival – If your client needs arrival within the month, you need to firm at least a month in advance of the arrival date. This should be flagged by working with your Q2C support team at least a month in advance.

There is a website where you can check on lead times on specific Machine Type Models and feature codes for up to the date information on any constraints. There is even a way to load your configuration CFR file and have it assessed for constraints.
